Templars are the antagonists of Assassin's Creed. They are English warriors who served under Richard the Lionheart during the Crusades. In Altair's timeline, they have occupied the Holy Lands on the premise of ensuring peace and tranquility, though their methods and plans often suggest otherwise. Though they ultimately failed, descendants of the Templars still lingered into the present day, and are trying to conquer the world once again using Abstergo Industries.
